In collaboration with the Portland Bureau of Transportation, students in DeVigal’s Reporting Within Communities multimedia journalism master’s course produced a series of videos to start a dialogue about walking in Portland and inform the city’s pedestrian planning process also known as PedPDX. The team of students followed eight Portland pedestrians around the city with their cameras, revealing their walking abilities and challenges. The community members’ narration highlighted the importance of walking in their lives and their hopes for Portland’s future as a great place to walk.
